Dr. Robert Griffith
Veterinarian, Owner
Dr. Griffith says that asking him why he became a veterinarian is like asking him why he has green eyes—it was simply meant to be! Rob remembers wanting to be a veterinarian since he was only eight years old.
Born in a small town in Georgia, Dr. Griffith attended the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1979. He then moved to Columbus, Georgia to start his career. After a few years, Rob started looking for a practice closer to home. A friend told him about a possible position at Smyrna Animal Hospital, which Dr. Griffith accepted in March 1984. He worked as an Associate Veterinarian until 2003, when he was given the opportunity to purchase the clinic.
As a veterinarian, Dr. Griffith enjoys internal medicine and emergency cases. Often, he calls veterinary specialists for consultations, which helps him stay current on the diagnostics and treatments of various cases. Improving the quality of life for a pet and owner is the most rewarding feeling for him!
Rob has two pets of his own: Lexie, a Yorkie terrier who chews on everything but her chew toys, and Lillie, a Yorkie terrier. Both dogs keep Dr. Griffith company when he’s working late at the hospital.
Dr. Griffith is involved with several local veterinary societies and has served on the board of directors for several of them. He also likes reading, catching movies, listening to music, and writing poetry—he’s even had several published!
